Lifestyle Medecine
Pilot Project
The Lifestyle Medicine Pilot Project provides scores based on biomarkers, biometrics, and questionnaires for the six key pillars of lifestyle medicine.
What is lifestyle medecine?
Lifestyle medicine is a medical specialty that uses therapeutic lifestyle interventions as a primary modality to treat chronic conditions including, but not limited to, cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. Lifestyle medicine certified clinicians are trained to apply evidence-based, whole-person, prescriptive lifestyle change to treat and, when used intensively, often reverse such conditions.
Applying the six pillars of lifestyle medicine—a wholefood, plant-predominant eating pattern, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connections—also provides effective prevention for these conditions.
Nutrition
Emphasizing whole, plant-based foods while minimizing processed foods, sugar, and unhealthy fats.
Physical Activity
Encouraging regular exercise and movement to promote cardiovascular health, muscle strength, and overall fitness.
Stress Management
Teaching techniques such as mindfulness, meditation, deep breathing, and relaxation exercises to manage stress effectively.
Sleep
Promoting good sleep hygiene and adequate sleep duration to support physical and mental health.
Substance Use
Encouraging moderation or avoidance of substances like alcohol and tobacco that can negatively impact health.
Social Connections
Recognizing the importance of social relationships and community support for mental and emotional well-being.
